Dark Pavement

Raindrops on dark pavement touch the soles of my worn-out shoes

As the tops of my checkered vans get darker from the rain

Looking at the green that covers the ground and sky

Wind blowing our way as raindrops fall down to our foggy glasses

Every moment in this garden of green gives me a feeling of tranquility

Like the drugs I used to keep me away from reality

I enjoy each step of damp ground as I breathe slowly in hopes to prolong its life

This harmonious walk couldn’t last forever

But then I remember that these raindrops on pavement will return

Just like you and I
